"Tell me, O Muse,
of that ingenious hero
who traveled far
and wide after he had
sacked the famous town of Troy."

The Odyssey of Homer
Samuel Butler, 1835-1902 (1900)

TellmeOmuse is based in New York City.

We make Homer's Odyssey and Greek mythology

more accessible to more people.

TellmeOmuse was founded in 2005 by

social psychologist Joy Marie Sever

and artist Matthew Willey.

In addition to the games, greeting cards, journals, and t-shirts you see in the photo below, TellmeOmuse is involved in two epic projects to make Homer's Odyssey and Greek mythology more accessible.

Joy is designing easy-to-understand and easy-to-use Odyssey Companions to make teaching Homer's Odyssey something less than a Herculian task.

The first is The TellmeOmuse Companion to Homer's Odyssey.

Matthew, in consultation with the Muses, has been pulling Zeus, Athena, Poseidon, Hermes, Helios, and the Cyclops out of the pages of Homer's epic and placing them on something you can see and hold.

Photo of Chief Artist Matthew Willey (and Polyphemus, the famous Cyclops ) on the road at the CAAS (Classical Association of the Atlantic States) conference in Wilmington, Delaware (October 2009).  Look for TellmeOmuse at the upcoming Annual Meeting of the Classical Association of New England (CANE) March 19 and 20 2010 in Providence, Rhode Island.

And yes, Polyphemus will be there as well!

Curious about our past journeys?

TellmeOmuse held an Art Show at the marvelous Artists Inn Residence in Washington, DC – home of the first TellmeOmuse mythology murals. Listen to Joy Marie Sever and Matt Willey talk about TellmeOmuse, ancient stories, and timeless wisdom (approx. running time 8 minutes) (Nov 07).
